Words, No. 4

Ever wanted to say something was ugly or disgusting? Here's a few words to say it with:

Corpulent doesn't have anything to do with dead bodies,

Bloated doesn't have anything to do with dead bodies either.

Fleshy goes great with corpulent.

Rank smells sort of like vinegar.

Rancid smells a lot like my refrigerator.

Rotted does have something to do with dead bodies, but can be relatively unspecific.

Decayed implies dampness and maggots.

Desiccated implies dryness and pitting.

Abhorrent is something so wrong it's sickening

Repugnant is something so wrong it's nauseating

Repulsive is the smell of rotting flesh

Repellent is the sight of rotten skin.

Sallow is the way skin is when you take a bandage off that's been there a long time,

Pallid suggests bleaching, but it's similar to sallow otherwise.

Aberrant implies mutation, and is excellent in conjunction,

Perverted can be used in conjunction with aberrant.

Most of these words stand alone well, but if you want to linger on your monster or corpse, simile and metaphor may serve you better. Using a barrage of lesser adjectives to follow any of these can amplify their effect. Remember that the smell of necrotic flesh is deeply repellent, to humans in particular. Remember to go for the eyes and mouth (I'm not saying what I mean).

Detail is disgusting and the possibilities are endless.
